Kingsway Windows maintenance

The importance of periodic maintenance on wooden windows cannot be emphasized enough if you want to keep them for future generations.

By Periodic I mean once every 7 years at most. You should however keep an eye on the putty work in case that deteriorates, usually seen as cracked putty at the corners. Every 2 years just do a quick visual it takes minutes to do. Cracked putty is the leading cause of rotten casement and sash windows.

Paint technology has and continues to improve with each passing year some new ‘cover all’ paint is introduced onto the market with some astounding results claimed being a sceptic I do tend to keep to what I know works in this case these windows have been finished in oil based paint used in the main in marine environments it tends to be a harder finished paint with a degree of flexibility.

Given the exposed position of this particular property the sun tends to take its toll on timber unless you use a paint with the relevant protective properties.
